As the winter sports begin to wind down and the spring sports begin to move competitions outside, proper care needs to be taken in regards to winter weather. I imagine all athletic trainers, coaches, and most support staff members have spent an afternoon watching sports while bundled up in layers, still shivering from the cold. Now imagine shedding some layers and attempting to compete at the highest possible level, battling the opponent and the environment. I think that we sometimes forget how difficult this is and we don’t always put ourselves in the shoes of the athlete.
